Museum Tours resume March 6 at Old Slater Mill
(Pawtucket, RI)?? The winter hiatus at Old Slater Mill museum and historic site ends on Saturday, March 6 at 11 a.m., when the mill and museum re-open for tours.
The museum will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in March and April.?? School and private groups may call to book visits on weekdays.
As one of Rhode Island???s (and the nation???s) most iconic cultural sites, the 1793 Old Slater Mill and its historic campus is one of the most visited places in the state. Guided tours of the museum are approximately 50 minutes in length, and include a walk through three historic buildings.
Museum tours area led by interpreters who are deeply knowledgeable of local history and the national significance of the site. Interpreters are able to tailor their tours to a particular affinity or age group, so whether you???re a tenured professor, a high school history buff, or a parent with school-aged children, you will enjoy Old Slater Mill.
Visitors may also come anytime for a self-guided walk through the campus and along the river bank, where the grounds are not only historically significant but also lovely to behold. Several interpretive wayside signs are located on site to orient and inform passersby.
