Upgrades Complete at Fire Station 6

Pawtucket ??? Today, Mayor Donald Grebien announced the re-opening of Fire Station 6 on Newport Avenue after renovations and safety upgrades were completed.
???I???m pleased to be re-opening Station 6,??? said Mayor Grebien. ???Many of our facilities across the city were neglected over time and now require significant repairs. Thank you to our firefighters for working with us while we prioritize upgrades to these facilities.???
Station 6 was closed in November 2016 to safely remediate lead paint and asbestos, and make electrical and other interior upgrades. Firefighters were relocated to Fire Station 3 on Columbus Avenue during renovations. This project cost approximately $155,000.
Improvements will begin next week at Fire Station 1 on West Avenue to remedy some unanticipated issues. Station 1 will be temporarily closed to allow for the work.
