Join us on Thursday November 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the Community room for Dr. Gary Hylander’s ‘Hail to the Chief.’ ??On the heels of the 2016??

Presidential Election, Dr. Gary Hylander will take us back to the Constitutional Convention of 1787, where the office of the President and the Electoral College were created. As Connecticut Governor Samuel Huntington stated it was a “new event” in human history. Unanimously elected the nation???s first president, Washington was well aware of his unique position: ???I walk,??? he wrote, ???on untrodden ground.??? Dr. Gary Hylander is a scholar and professor who has taught at Stonehill College and Framingham State University and lectured for many cultural and educational forums including the Norton Institute for Continuing Education (NICE).

CODING

Join us on Saturday November 19, 2016 from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM in the Community Room for Coding with Minecraft.?? Learn how to summon lightning bolts with a bow and arrow or build giant rainbows in the Minecraft world with code! Spawn farm animals or monsters instantly and have fun “modding” your world. This workshop introduces coding concepts by showing participants how to build or change the game using a programming language.??

 

Presented by Thi Sarkis from the Rhode Island Computer Museum.Grades 4 and up. Registration is required and begins on Nov. 7.
