Old-Fashioned Forging Techniques to be Demonstrated at Linden Place Mansion

Master metalsmith, George Martell, will demonstrate the forging process and explain Linden Place???s ongoing fence restoration.

Linden Place will host a demonstration of old-fashioned forging techniques with metal works expert, George Martell, on Saturday, October 29th at 11:00am on the front lawn of Linden Place (rain date will be Saturday, November 6th).

George Martell

Over the past year, metalsmith Martell has forged hundreds of metal roses, scrolls and other fence components in his restoration of Linden Place???s early 19th century wrought iron fence. He will demonstrate the forging process and discuss the fence???s ongoing restoration project.

Artist, designer and master smith George Martel has over 30 years of experience??in traditional metal-smithing. Owner of Martell’s Metal Works, Martell is passionate about preserving the past by using traditional and modern methods to create and restore custom one-of-a-kind metal pieces.

Friends of Linden Place is a non-profit organization responsible for the restoration and preservation of the historic house museum at 500 Hope Street in Bristol, Rhode Island, and for the promotion of cultural, artistic, and educational programs in the community. The mansion and grounds are open to the public from May to October, during the holiday season, and also by appointment.
