The Rally for a Cure Tournament
Attleboro, MA ??? On a day most were celebrating the strength and contributions of American workers, the Women???s Golf Association of Highland Country Club celebrated a different type of strength and hope. Every year, for the past 11 years, the WGA has sponsored The Rally for a Cure Tournament, with proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This year, however, the WGA opted to support a local organization???Community VNA Hospice Care. ???We chose to support Community VNA Hospice Care in recognition of the incredible care and support (Hospice has) provided to so many of our families and friends over the years,??? commented Nancy Monroe and Toni Wallace, tournament co-chairs.
With support from a full-field of golfers, donations from many of the members of Highland Country Club, participation in fundraising events from the Falls AC Golf League, and a Beat the Pro Contest with Highland???s own Drew Chapman and Jameson Randall, the organization???s inaugural Highland FORE Hospice Golf Tournament raised more than $10,000. ??
???We are so very humbled, honored and grateful to the Women???s Golf Association of Highland Country Club for designating our Hospice program as beneficiary of this tournament,??? said Kathy Trier, Community VNA Executive Director and CEO. ???We have been privileged to serve many of the family and friends of Highland over the years; this financial support will help us to fulfill our promise to those who need us in the future,??? Trier said. Funds raised benefit Community VNA Hospice Care which provides advanced care for individuals and their families who are facing any type of serious, life-limiting illness. According to Colleen Swihart, Community VNA Hospice Manager, ???Hospice is about patients driving their own plan of care with dignity, comfort, respect and peace.??? Swihart noted, ???We may not be able to add to the number of days of your life, but we can provide life to the number of your days.??? In addition to tournament play, the day???s festivities included a buffet dinner and offered guests an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a variety of items and bid on select items in a silent auction. Among the items available were numerous restaurant gift certificates, themed gift baskets, fine wine, framed art work from members at Highland and tickets to Boston sporting events.
