???Van-Go??? Bus Trips Heads to the Harvard Museum of Natural History in September

?????Van-Go??? Trips, a successful collaboration between Linden Place and the Bristol Art Museum, will continue its field trip series this fall with a visit to Cambridge, Massachusetts on Thursday, September 22nd. Enjoy an opportunity to sit back, relax and depart from Bristol with door-door service to the Harvard Museum of Natural History on the campus of Harvard University.????

The Harvard Museum of Natural History is the most-visited attraction at Harvard???for its historical collections, its temporary exhibitions, and its new permanent galleries. Visitors will encounter the diversity of life on earth, from dinosaurs to??fossil??invertebrates and reptiles, to large??mammals,??birds??and??fish, and the only mounted??Kronosaurus. The mineralogical galleries present a systematic display of??meteorites, minerals and??gemstones.

One of the museum???s most famous treasures is the internationally acclaimed Ware Collection of Blaschka Glass Models of Plants, the ???Glass Flowers.” This unique collection of over 4,000 models, representing more than 830 plant species, was??created by glass artisans Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka, a father and son from Dresden, Germany. The commission began with only a few models in 1886 and continued for five decades.

The bus departs Bristol from the municipal parking lot on Thames Street across from the Robin Rug building at 9:00am. A luxury coach will be used with restroom facilities on board for a comfortable ride.??????

The price for this trip is $40 for transportation paid to Bristol Art Museum, PO Box 42, Bristol, RI 02809 no later than two weeks before trip. Please include name, address, email, telephone and emergency contact number. The ticket price for the Harvard Museum of Natural History is $15, payable in cash and collected on the bus.

FRIENDS OF LINDEN PLACE is a non-profit organization responsible for the restoration and preservation of Linden Place, an 1810 Federal period mansion located in the center of downtown Bristol, RI. The Linden Place organization offers cultural, artistic, and educational programs in the RI community.
