B-a-a-a-a. ??Goats get grounds ready for new green, pocket neighborhood in Norfolk, MA. The goats are coming. ?? Eight to ten goats will be the first to make way for Boyde???s Crossing, a new environmentally-sensitive and pocket neighborhood community in Norfolk, MA. ??

The goats, from Galasso Landscaping based in Walpole, MA, will arrive with an appetite the last week of August and are expected to munch away for 10 days. The goats will clear invasive species and invasive weeds like poison ivy and thistle that are impacting wetland on the property. Goats have a long tradition of clearing land.

Companies such as Google and Yahoo used goats to clear invasive weeds from their office campuses. The Vanderbilt mansion, which is a national historic site, also used goats. The use of goats is in keeping with the philosophy and development practices of Boyde’s Crossing.

Boyde???s Crossing is also a Pocket Neighborhood that encourages more intimate connections and getting to know your neighbors. The 40 single-family, cottage-style homes will feature front porches that overlook a common green and shared bike racks.

The Pocket Neighborhood movement first emerged in Seattle, Washington 15 years ago.?? Boyde???s Crossing will be built on the nine-acre parcel of land at 106-108 Main Street. The community is within walking distance of the train station and the downtown area.
