Museum of Work & Culture to Unveil Latest Exhibit Honoring Mill Workers

(WOONSOCKET, R.I.) ??? Please join the Museum of Work & Culture on Tuesday, August 23, at 10:30am for a special presentation on The Mill Workers??? Memory Bank, the Museum???s latest endeavor to preserve the legacy of the those who made our state???s proud manufacturing history possible.

The Mill Workers??? Memory Bank will allow the public to contribute profiles of family members and friends who worked in mills throughout the Blackstone Valley and beyond. It will also be a prominent component of Woonsocket Works, a new permanent exhibit space currently under development at the Museum.

Exhibit designers Ed Malouf of Content Design and Bruce Spero of Trivium Interactive will be on hand to demonstrate the collection process, present exhibit renditions, and answer questions.

During the Museum???s 18th Annual Labor Day Open House on September 5, the public will be given the opportunity to register loved ones for a donation of $25. All funding will go toward the development of Woonsocket Works. For Labor Day only, photographs will be included in profiles for no additional free. All donations are tax deductible.??

Additionally, the Museum has established partnerships with the Saint Antoine Community and Friendly Nursing Home. In the coming months, Museum staff & volunteers will be visiting their sites, as well as other area senior living communities, to hold collection events for the Memory Bank.

It recently received a Rhode Island Monthly Best of Rhode Island Award for its SensAbilities Saturdays all-ability program.
