In the physical world, especially strong cohesive forces at the surface level accumulate to create a moment of suspense. In art, surface tension is both a physical property and a point of inspiration, allowing the artist to create a vibrant, compelling piece that reflects their experience, medium, and style.

Eligibility:??ALRI Elected Artists, Associate Members whose dues are current, and URI Art Students may participate. Become an Associate Member now by visiting??Art League Rhode Island

Submittal Fee:??Artists may submit two entries. Click on fees to pay online at PayPal. ALRI members??1/20??or??2/$30;??URI students 2/$20. Payment may also be made by check payable to Art League RI and mailed to: ALRI, One Avenue of the Arts, Providence, RI, 02903.

Email Entries:??Please fill out the??attached forms??and submit together with a jpeg of each submitted work (6 inches in the larger direction at 300??ppi) by email to??artleagueri@gmail.com??with subject line??ALRI All Members and URI Students Juried Exhibition. Submit your entry fee as described above.

Artwork:??All media accepted. Artists should interpret, in their respective medium, the theme “Surface Tension.”??In the physical world, especially strong cohesive forces at the surface level accumulate to create a moment of suspense. In art, surface tension is both a physical property and a point of inspiration, allowing the artist to create a vibrant, compelling piece that reflects their experience, medium, and style.??Artwork previously exhibited with ALRI, is not permitted. All work must be original and created in the last 3 years. Work found to be copied from copyrighted work will not be hung. Reprints are not permitted. All work must be exhibition ready to install with the appropriate hardware. No saw tooth hangers or clips. No dark-colored mats. Work that does not adhere to the guidelines will not be exhibited. Artwork must be appropriate for viewers of all ages. Each submission of art should be attached to email submission as a jpg file and labeled in the following format: ARTIST’S LASTNAME_TITLE OF PIECE.jpg

Size limit:??Maximum size up to 48″ wide and 72″ high including frame. Artists may have multiple pieces (diptych, triptych etc.) to make up one work. 3D work will be moved on a regular basis for events. We ask that the overall footprint of 3D work be 24″ x 24″ inches or less with a weight limit 35 lbs.

Installation pieces:??Must include a detailed description of any electrical requirements.

Upon notification of acceptance:??Notification will be sent via email on or before Friday, September 30th. Cut out and attach the Artist ID form and tape to the back of your artwork, upon delivery to the URI Main Gallery. Please submit a current bio/resume (two pages maximum) by email to??artleagueri@gmail.com. No inquires please. All decisions are final. Accepted work MUST remain in the gallery during the duration of the exhibit. No exceptions.

Delivery Information:??All work must be hand delivered to the??URI Fine Arts Center, Main Gallery, 105 Upper College Road, Kingston.??No shipped works will be accepted. All packing materials must be removed at the time of delivery.

Sales & Commissions:??Sales are encouraged and should be directed to artleagueri@gmail.com. Work may be for sale or listed as Not for Sale (NFS); however, no work may be listed as Price on Request (POR). Prices provided by the artist should reflect the 30% commission taken by ALRI on all artwork sold. Artists will be paid their percentage of the sale by ALRI at the conclusion of the exhibition.

Liability -??Legal Agreement & Participant’s Waiver:??Submission of work automatically waives any claim for damage or loss against ALRI or the URI Fine Arts Center Main Gallery, including the officers, members, and employees. ALRI will exercise reasonable care in handling all entries, but will not assume any liability for loss or damage while in ALRI’s possession. Work should be independently insured by the artist.

Usage Rights:??By submitting images you are giving ALRI the right to use the images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition and for reproduction online. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. ALRI reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control. Payment of the submission fee indicates acknowledgement of all terms and conditions.
