Please join Four Corners Arts Center as they present their 23rd Annual Outdoor Sculpture Park Steel???n Space.?? Opening reception is July 17th from 2-4 at the Meeting House.?? This year???s artists include Jerry Ehrlrich, Isabel Mattia & James Lawton.
Jerry Ehrlich received his Bachelor of arts degree from Connecticut College.?? He has been exhibiting in group and solo exhibitions since 1991 at such places as the Warwick Art Museum, RI; the Fisher Museum, NJ; Galleria Roja, Boston, MA; the Rhode Island Holocaust Museum, and the Newport Art Museum, RI.?? ?? He was awarded best in shows at the Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich, CT; the Newport Art Museum in Newport Rhode Island and at the Bristol Art Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island. ?? His newest series of rebar based sculptures was recently on view in Boys with Toys at Causey Contemporary in New York City as well as in a solo exhibition at the Newport Art Museum, both in 2012.?? ??
Isabel Mattia is an artist and curator whos studio is within Smokestack Studios in Fall River MA. She was the curator of Dedee Shattuck Gallery in Westport, Ma for a number of years. Isabel was born in Providence and received her BA in Visual Arts and African Studies from Brown University in 2011. She lives on a nascent GMO/Pesticide-free farm in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Her work deals with exploring drawing in three dimensions to translate concept, memory, and emotion into objects.
James Lawton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Constructive Design at Florida State University, Tallahassee in 1976 and MFA in Ceramics at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in 1980.????Lawton joined the faculty at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at UMass Dartmouth in 1998 where he is currently Professor of Ceramics and Chair of the Artisanry Department.??????Prior appointments include the School of the Art Institute of Chicago 1992-98, where he was tenured Professor, as well as visiting professorships at Alfred University, Louisiana State University, and University of Michigan. Additionally, he leads workshops and presents lectures across the country and abroad.
