PAWTUCKET PARKS & RECREATION FREE SUMMER PERFORMANCES
??The Pawtucket Parks and Recreation Division is hosting a number of free performances throughout the summer beginning Tuesday, July 5 and are tentatively scheduled to end Sunday, August 21, weather permitting.?? All performances begin at 6 p.m. and are open to the public.
There are seven children???s performances taking place at Slater Memorial Park every Tuesday evening starting on July 5.?? These performances include Lon Cerel (7/5), Jedlie???s Magic Circus (7/12), The Great Baldini (7/19), T-Bone (7/26), Keith Munslow (8/2), RI Music Hall of Fame 2016 inductee, Bill Harley (8/9), along with Johnny the K on August 16th.?? Performances will be held at the stage between the Slater Park Office and the historic Daggett House by route of the Armistice Boulevard park entrance.?? The carousel will remain open until 8 p.m. throughout the summer during the night of these performances only.?? During periods of inclement weather, these performances will be moved to the Slater Park Pavilion, adjacent to the carousel.
Thursday evenings bring music to Slater Memorial Park at the stage located in front of the Daggett Farm location by way of the Newport Avenue park entrance.?? The Free Summer Music Series in the Park begins July 7 with Ronnie & the Satellites.?? Other acts include the Jesse Liam Band (7/14), Tony Funches from The Platters fame (7/21), The Boot Hill Band (7/28), John Connors and the Irish Express (8/4), Throwback to the 60???s (8/11) and Five Flavor Discount (8/18).?? Seafood, sandwiches and other concessions are available at this location. During periods of inclement weather, these performances will be moved to the Slater Park Pavilion, adjacent to the carousel.
A variety of free musical performances will be presented at The Veteran???s Amphitheatre on the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Exchange Street every Sunday night starting July 10.?? This riverfront venue is directly adjacent to Pawtucket City Hall.?? Performers will include the Arthur Medeiros Swing Band (7/10), Big Cat Blues (7/17), Terri Giviens (7/24), Hugo Gonzalez (7/31), the Moldy Suitcases (8/7), Acoustic Drive (8/14) and Czesare Santana (8/21).??
The Parks & Recreation Division is asking that all patrons bring a canned or non-perishable food item to the Thursday or Sunday night musical performances this year in support of Operation Hunger Down. Operation Hunger Down is a program dedicated to intensifying the efforts by RI???s local music community to reduce hunger in Rhode Island.?? Hunger Down is currently a project of the RI Music Hall of Fame, The End Hunger Foundation, 1 of 52 Hunger Network and RIPULSE.?? ??
