Bernie Beaudreau Steps Down as Serve Rhode Island’s Executive Director to Join the Connecticut Food Bank

After eight years as the Executive Director of Serve Rhode Island, the state’s center for volunteerism and national service, Bernie Beaudreau is stepping down to return to his passion for fighting hunger in America. On May 16, Bernie will start a new job as CEO of the Connecticut Food Bank in Wallingford.??
At the April 26 meeting of the Serve Rhode Island Board of Directors, Bernie gave his final report highlighting the recent April 21st summer job fair for 220 of Providence’s south side and west end teenagers.?? See video of event:
Serve Rhode Island’s Board of Directors has appointed Nancy Stetter, the agency’s Director of Finance for the past six years, as the Acting Executive Director while the agency searches for a new leader.??
Ashley Greene, Serve Rhode Island’s Co-Chair of the Board, expressed her appreciation of Bernie, saying, “I am immensely grateful to Bernie for his leadership of Serve Rhode Island over the last eight years.?? In this time I have watched Bernie work tirelessly to mobilize individuals and communities around volunteerism and national and community service.?? While Bernie’s departure will be a loss to Rhode Island, I am thrilled for him to return to the important work of fighting hunger as the CEO of the Connecticut Food Bank.”?? J. Michael Downey, the agency’s other Board Co-Chair said, “Rhode Island’s loss is Connecticut’s gain.?? Bernie is the type of leader who never asks anyone to do something that he wouldn’t do.”
The Connecticut Food Bank is the state’s non-profit leader in the fight against hunger and the largest provider of donated food serving more than 300,000 people across six Connecticut counties.
