Feehan Students Win Regional Science Fair

Bishop Feehan High School sophomores Katherine Beadle of North Attleboro and Samuel Carter of Cumberland, RI recently won first place awards at the Region III Science & Engineering Fair at Bristol Community College in Fall River where they competed against mostly high school juniors and seniors.??
??Beadle???s project, ???Lipid Content in Algae: The Foundation of Biofuel Production??? took first place in the senior division and was highest scoring project overall. She also won the U.S. Navy award, the NOAA Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award, and the James W. Pelletier Outstanding Senior Project of the Fair award, totaling $450 in scholarship funds. Beadle was chosen to attend to the Intel International Science fair in Phoenix in May to represent the State of Massachusetts.
?????I couldn’t have done any of this without the support from (my science teacher) Mr. Desjardins and the support of the school,??? commented Beadle.
??Carter???s project, ???How Texting Affects Spelling??? also won first place, as well as the Bristol Community College Foundation Award and the Tom Cahill Award, with a total of $400 in scholarship money. Carter was also chosen to attend the Intel International Science Fair as a representative of Region III in Massachusetts.
