LINCOLN WOODS
Changing Views of Rhode Island???s Natural Landscape Focus of Gallery Show at the Museum of Work & Culture
??(WOONSOCKET, R.I.) ??? The Museum of Work & Culture is proud to present ???Seasons,??? a solo exhibition by Rhode Island painter and sculptor Gage Prentiss.
??The exhibit features more than 20 works in oil on canvas, many of which are being exhibited for the first time. Each piece showcases the influence of changing seasons on the natural landscape of Rhode Island, with a particular focus on Lincoln Woods & Blackstone. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view two of Prentiss??? steel sculptures, which are a part of the Museum???s permanent collection.
??Prentiss, who was born in New Orleans, raised in Fitchburg, Mass., and currently resides in East Providence,??is drawn to the conflicts and harmonies found in duality, which he presents in his own mediums of choice which include oil painting, as well as steel, bronze, and iron.
???Rhode Island has almost every landscape feature you could want,??? Prentiss says. ???While walking or driving around the state I often catch places that grab me with a strong composition. There are few things as epic and intimate as the scenes of the seasons in Rhode Island.???
??The exhibit will be on display in the Museum???s changing gallery space through May 14.
